This past week has been an emotional one for many people and it got me thinking about emotions in general.
I always felt that emotions are like clouds. Sometimes they are light and fluffy and other times dark and foreboding. Regardless if it’s a sunny day or a category 5 hurricane, those clouds are usually always temporary.
We may understand that our emotions continuously change but we don’t always know why or how to deal with them when they arise. This generally isn’t a problem if we are happy or joyful but it can be hard if we are angry or sad.
Oxford Languages defines emotional intelligence is “the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.” This isn’t always easy (especially if we are in a heated situation) because this isn’t always something we are taught.
Do you know how to deal with your emotions?
