Are you the type of person who likes to create to-do lists and then feel better about yourself as you cross them off one by one? Me too! Unfortunately I seem to create these lists and then never actually get to anything because my time ends up being occupied by other things.
Like toast night night I needed to break down all the cardboard in the basement to get it out for recycling. If we broke down each piece and put it away properly this wouldn’t be a big deal but because we just toss boxes into the basement it becomes a process. So here’s 20 minutes of my life gone that I could have been taking care of any of the the to-do list items.
Of course this is only an excuse. I probably wouldn’t have done any of those things anyway. It’s not that I don’t want to do them – otherwise they wouldn’t be on a list – it’s just I can always find something else or more importantly something more interesting.
It also comes down to a chronic case of procrastination which I’ve had for years combined with the love of creating ideas and a dislike of actual execution.
But at least I know all this about myself. I think I’ll try to change these behaviors – I’ll put it on my to-do list.
